Basketball Mid-Canterbury aims to ensure all players and their supporters understand their expected behaviours while representing the province of Mid-Canterbury. Representing our region is an honour and a privilege and we ask that everyone involved understands and respects this.

As a manager of a team in the Basketball Mid-Canterbury league I will participate and abide by the following code of conduct:

ï‚·Respect the rights, dignity and worth of fellow parents, players, coaches, officials, and spectators

Conduct myself in a dignified manner relating to emotions, language, attitude, and punctuality

Maintain a high standard of behaviour so as not to damage the reputation of Basketball Mid-Canterbury

ï‚·Accept all decisions of referees as being fair and called to the best of their ability

ï‚·Co-operate with all coaches and staff involved in my child’s development and support their decisions

ï‚·Accept all coaching decisions as being in the best interests of the team and refrain from coaching from the side-lines and/or undermining coaching decisions outside of the team environment

ï‚·Refrain from the use of bad language and harassment of players, coaches and officials which includes yelling out from the side-line during a game

ï‚·Always encourage positive play and support any and all children’s efforts to play

ï‚·Do not raise issues of disagreement publicly and adhere to the 24-hour rule when it comes to addressing concerns arising from games and/or selections with the Head Coach
